Minhaal al-Qassaab reports, “I asked Imam al-Sadeq (peace be upon him), ‘Pray to Allah that He grants me martyrdom.’ He (peace be upon him) replied, ‘Surely, a believer is a martyr.’ Then, he (peace be upon him) recited the following verse, ‘And (as for) those who believe in Allah and His apostles, these it is that are the truthful and the faithful ones in the sight of their Lord: they shall have their reward and their light’[1].”
Note:
There are two meanings of a word, one is its terminological meaning and second is its reward or reality. For example, a martyr – terminologically – is the one who is killed in the way of Allah but in the second meaning, it also means anyone who dies on the love of Ahle Bait (peace be upon them) even if he has not died in the battlefield.
