His Eminence Abu Abdillah Imam Ja’far Sadiq (peace be upon him) said:
الْقُرْآنُ عَهْدُ اللهِ إِلَى خَلْقِهِ فَقَدْ يَنْبَغِي لِلْمَرْءِ الْمُسْلِمِ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ فِي عَهْدِهِ وَ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ مِنْهُ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ خَمْسِينَ آيَة
“The Holy Quran is Allah’s covenant unto His creation. So, it is appropriate for a Muslim man to look at his covenant and read from it 50 verses daily.”
[Al-Kaafi, vol. 2, p. 9, H. 2]
Note:
- The Holy Quran is regarded as a covenant and pledge to the Allah, the Exalted
- In other words, this is a promise which Allah has taken from every Muslim
- Anyone who considers himself to be a Muslim but does not recite at least 50 Quranic verses in a day has, in reality, not fulfilled his promise made to Allah, the High
May Allah, Mighty, and Majestic be He, through the medium of this very covenant i.e. the Holy Quran, grant us the opportunity to fulfil this pledge and hasten the reappearance of the true exponent of the Holy Quran, His Eminence, the Master of time viz. Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.).
Aameen, O Lord of the worlds!
