11th Muharram, 61 A.H.
Umar Ibn Sa’d took the family of Imam Husain (a.s.) as captives and ordered them to be taken to Ibn Ziyaad in Kufa. Imam Zain al-Aabideen (a.s.) and the women-folk were mounted upon camels without saddles and they prepared to head towards Kufa. May Allah not make any son see what Imam Zain al-Aabideen (a.s.) saw that day. Imam (a.s.) states, “I saw the bodies of martyrs were left unshrouded. My heart was sinking and it was so difficult for me to bear whatever I was witnessing that my soul was almost about to depart from my body. At that time, my aunt Zainab Bint Ali (a.s.) looked at my condition and consoled me thus: ‘O the remnant of my grandfather, my father, and my brothers! I’m seeing that you are risking your life.’ I replied, ‘How can I not be restless and not risk my life when I see my master, my uncles, my cousins and my family, their bodies fallen on the ground, drenched in blood, their clothes have been looted, they are neither shrouded nor buried and no one is even going near them…’ Upon hearing this my aunt said, ‘Do not be disheartened by whatever you see. By Allah, this is a promise of your ancestor Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) to your father, your brother, and your uncle, and certainly Allah took a covenant from some people of this nation whom the Pharaohs of this nation do not recognise but they are well known among the dwellers of the heavens. They will gather these broken bones and bury these bodies and will establish a symbol for the grave of your father, the Chief of Martyrs (a.s.), on the land of Karbala such that its effect will never cease and its symbol will never be eliminated with the passing of nights and days. The Imams of disbelief and the followers of deviation will try their level best to erase and eliminate it but its effect will not cease, rather it will only manifestly increase and its affair will only be elevated.”
[Kaamil al-Ziyaaraat, pp. 261-262; Behaar al-Anwaar, vol. 45, pp. 179-180, H. 30]
Today, the elevated and lofty status of Karbala and the storm of visitors of Imam Husain (a.s.) is the realisation of the prophecy of Lady Zainab (s.a.) on 11th Muharram 61 A.H. to Imam Zain al-Aabideen (a.s.). Time has passed, tyrant rulers oppressed in every possible way, restrictions were laid on the visitation (Ziyaarah) of Imam Husain (a.s.), the visitors were martyred, their limbs were cut off but Karbala is still shining bright. The shrine of Imam Husain (a.s.) and its magnificent dome are a clear sign of the victory of Imam Husain (a.s.) and the defeat of Yazid, the accursed.
We pray to Allah to hasten the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) and grant every lover of Imam Husain (a.s.) the fortune of visiting his grave. Aameen Ya Rabb al-Aalameen!
