Imam Sadeq (peace be upon him) reports, “One night, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) passed the night in the mosque. When the morning was near, Ameerul Momineen (peace be upon him) entered. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) called out to him and said, ‘O Ali!’ He (peace be upon him) responded, ‘Labbaik’. He (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) ordered, ‘Come near me’. When he (peace be upon him) went near to me, he (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) informed, ‘O Ali! I passed the night as you are seeing me (i.e. in worship, prayers and supplications), after which I asked Allah for a thousand needs. He fulfilled them for me. Then I asked the same (1000 needs) for you and He fulfilled them for me. Thereafter, I asked my Lord for you that He gathers my nation for you after me. But my Lord denied that to me and said, ‘Alif Lam Mim. Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, We believe, and not be tried?”
Note:
The Ummah, in general, will abandon the mastership of Ali Ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) and the infallible Imams (peace be upon them) from his progeny barring a few who will be loyal to them (peace be upon him) even at the cost of their lives and wealth.
