Yunus Ibn Ammar narrates that Abu Abdillah Imam Jafar Sadiq (peace be upon him) said:
“On the Day of Judgment, there will be three books of records:
- the book of the record of the bounties,
- the book of the record of the good deeds and
- the book of the record of the evil deeds.
The records of the good deeds and the bounties will be compared and the record of the bounties will overwhelm all the good deeds and the record of the evil deeds will remain. Then a believer from the children of Adam (a.s.) will be called for his accounting.
At that time, the Holy Quran will come forward in the best form and say,
‘O, Lord! This believing servant would tire himself in reciting me and spend long hours during the night reading from me. During his Tahajjud (night prayer) his eyes would flood with tears. O, Lord! Make him happy just as he made me happy.’
Then Imam (peace be upon him) said that the Almighty, the Supreme (God), will say,
‘My servant! Open your right hand. Then He will fill it up with the contentment of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Almighty, and his left hand with the favor of Allah, and then it will be said to him, ‘This is Paradise and it is permissible for you. Read (from the Holy Quran) and climb up.’
Upon reading every (Quranic) Verse he will climb one degree (in Paradise).’”
[Al-Kaafi, vol. 2, p. 602, H. 12]
It means that one thing is certain from this tradition – the grades in Paradise are equivalent to the number of Quranic Verses. Hence, the one who memorized more Verses will ascend those many grades in Paradise.
We pray to Allah, the Almighty, to grant us the opportunity to memorize Quranic Verses excessively and hasten the reappearance of the Speaking Quran viz. His Eminence Imam Mahdi (a.t.f.s.) so that he places his affectionate hand over our head such that we acquire the recognition of the Holy Quran.
Aameen, O Lord of the worlds!
